David Wenham
Has appeared with two of 2001's Best Supporting Actor Nominees. That year's winner was Jim Broadbent, with whom he appeared in Moulin Rouge! . The other was Ian McKellen, who reprized his Oscar-nominated role opposite Wenham in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King .
2001 - David Wenham on stage at Adelaide's Festival Theatre narrated historical Australian texts, accompanied by the city's symphony orchestra. The pieces included the former prime minister's famous 1992 Redfern speech on the need for Aboriginal reconciliation and native title laws.
Although he only appears in two of the Lord of the Rings films, he appeared in a Best Picture nominee for three years in a row. In 2001, it was Moulin Rouge. In 2002 and 2003, they were The Two Towers and The Return of the King.

Wrote the song "Potato's In The Patty Wagon" with Annette O'Toole, his wife, while commuting back and forth from the United States to Canada, where "Smallville" was being filmed. O'Toole played Martha Kent, Superman's mother, in the series for six seasons. There was ample time to write due to the long checks at the border as this was a few days after September 11th, 2001. The couple first performed the song at a Christmas party that was hosted by Martin Short.
