His singer son, Bobby Wright, used the name John Wright when he was a regular on television's "McHale's Navy" (1962).1963
Originally billed as Johnnie Wright [of Johnnie and Jack, the country music singing duo], he changed the spelling to Johnny after the death of his partner Jack Anglin - who was married to Wright's sister - in a car crash while on the way to the funeral of Patsy Cline in 1963.1979
Johnny Wright began his musical career in 1979 with 19 years as a DJ at a radio station in Massachusetts. Nearly ten years later, in 1988 began doing business with Maurice Starr, who founded and managed teen sensation group New Kids on the Block. Soon after, the New Kids took a sabbatical, so Johnny decided to open a dance club called Snap. Then he moved to Orlando, Florida, where he still lives.1993
In 1993, he partnered with producer Louis J. Pearlman and two years later created the group Backstreet Boys. In 1996, he heard and contracted a teenager group called *NSYNC. Johnny Wright, could afford to be Wright International Records and Entertainment (WIRE), an independent discography.2003
In 2003, served as a judge on the NBC reality show, "Fame" (2003), hosted by one of his former clients, Joey Fatone of the group *NSYNC. In 2005, Sean Combs decided to form a new group of girls in MTV "Making the Band 3" (2005) and asked Johnny to help him find the perfect combination of beauty and talent to form "Danity Kane". In 2006, his company Wright Entertainment Group (WEG) introduced The Jonas Brothers; and in 2007 to Mark & James, Katelyn Tarver, Jon O'Shaughnessy and Sullee. Another of his creations was the television program "Making Menudo" (2007), which aired in late 2007.
