The balding actor once hosted an episode of PBS' "Nova" (1974), that was entitled "Sex, Lies and Toupee Tape", which was an informative and humorous look at pattern baldness and its effect on both men and women.

In the late 70s/early 80s during a career lull, he left acting for a time to focus on writing for such TV shows as "Knight Rider" (1982), "Hill Street Blues" (1981), "Hart to Hart" (1979) and "Quincy M.E." (1976).

Balding American character actor known for his unsympathetic work on TV as vain, callous attorney/partner "Douglas Brackman" in "L.A. Law" (1986) (1986-1994) and as Dharma's radical father in "Dharma & Greg" (1997) (1997-2002).
